Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Estelline with the Rev. Bob Vinslauski officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.
Pearl N. Mohan, daughter of Henry and Mary DeWall, was born June 30, 1917, at Dempster. After the death of her mother and infant brother, Harry, in 1919 she made her home with her grandparents, Gede and Pederje DeWall, in Dempster. She grew up in that area and attended school in Dempster and Estelline. She worked in a sewing factory in Estelline and on various farms, helping family members raise their families. She married Willard Mohan on Nov. 19, 1938, in Madison. They started farming on their own in 1942 in the Dempster/Estelline area and continued until retiring and moving into Estelline in 1989. Pearl entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center on Jan. 15.
She was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and the many friends she gained over the years selling her farm fresh eggs. Her specialty was her angel food cakes which she made for birthdays and special occasions for all those she loved. She was blessed to still be able to get out in the fields each year for planting and harvest. She was proud to live in her own home all these years after the death of her husband with her favorite companion, her cat Smokey.
She is survived by her daughter Amaine (Gary) Johnson of Estelline; a daughter-in-law Karen Mohan of Estelline; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard on July 19, 1999, her son Dean on July 10, 1994 and two sisters, Margie and Mary.
