Bernice B. McMillan, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at White Care Center in White. Memorial services are at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Brookings. Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bernice Barbara McMillan was born on Feb. 10, 1928, in Aberdeen, the daughter of Rex and Catherine (Vetch) Carter.
Bernie was educated in Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen High School in 1946, and continued her education at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. She married Roger J. McMillan on July 26, 1948, in Aberdeen. They made Brookings their home.
Bernie was an avid gardener with two green thumbs. She loved dogs, winters in Arizona, golf, long walks, and bridge with her friends who later became “The Lunch Bunch.” Bernie will be remembered as a lovely and gracious lady.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Joseph) Thomas of St. Joseph, Mich., a son, Mark McMillan of Phoenix; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; two sons John Eugene McMillan and David Roger McMillan and two brothers LeRoy Carter and Maurice Carter.
