Patricia Cheeseman, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on March 15, 2013, at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel in Lady Lake, Fla., with the Rev. Jon Marc MacLean officiating. Burial is at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
She was born July 9, 1926, in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Pat Cheeseman was a graduate of UCLA and University of New Mexico with a double degree in anthropology and geology. Pat’s work with the Bureau of Reclamation as a field geologist took her to Huron, where she met her husband of 60 years, Milford Ray “Dutch” Cheeseman. They were married in 1952. Pat received a master’s degree in education and taught science at Brookings Middle School for 20 years until her retirement in 1988.
Pat’s interests included golf, travel, sewing, rock hunting, science, astronomy and research on the family’s genealogy. She was active in PEO, the Mayflower Society, Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution and Eastern Star. She was a resident of The Villages for the past 15 years. Pat loved golfing and being a member of the Polo Booster club.
She is survived by her husband, M.R. Cheeseman; and daughters Rosanne (James Van Deurzen) Cheeseman of Erie, Pa.; Ruth Leonard (Jeff) of Boise, Idaho, and Barbara Swartos (Tim) of Brookfield, Wis.; five grandchildren; a great-grandson and a sister, Nadine Miller.
