BROOKINGS Ė Families looking to pay for college canít often count on their studentís kindness, good citizenship and humanitarianism to contribute much money. It seems most grants and scholarships are based on financial need or performance, usually in the realm of academics and athletics.

Thatís why a Brookings scholarship focused on how the nominee treats people around them is something special. And its organizers want the community to know that every penny they raise goes to kids, through the annual scholarship and other avenues.
