Kenneth Maynard Furness, 74, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Spokane, Wash.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 25 at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings Information on the service will be released in May.
He was born on April 18, 1938, in Brandt to Peder and Clara (Westley) Furness. Kenneth was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and in the reserves. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting and fishing.
He also enjoyed gardening, especially taking care of his tomato plants and fruit trees.
Kenneth is survived by his two daughters, Gayle Marie (Pat Brown) Furness and Daun Melanye (Dion Brown) Harrelson; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Palmer Furness and sisters, Eleanora Collins, Verna Bendt, Clarice (Harrold) Sager, Norma (William) Sheffield and Cleo (DeWayne) Maddol.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Myrtle Wigen, Adeline Furness and Pearl Donaldson; brothers, Albert and Orland Furness and brothers-in-law, Harrol Collins and Harvey Bendt. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Narcolepsy Network www.narcolepsynetwork.org.
