Eleanor G. (Beck) Heismeyer, 95, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. Burial is in Hillcrest Cemetery at Estelline. Geise Funeral Home of Estelline is in charge of arrangements
Eleanor G. (Beck) Heismeyer, daughter of Nicholas Glenn and Marian (Potter) Beck, was born June 8, 1917 at Winfred. She received her education in Winfred and graduated from Winfred High School in 1935. Eleanor continued her education at Madison Eastern in Madison, where she received her teacher’s certificate.
She taught elementary school in Estelline for two years before her marriage to Fred “Fritz” Heismeyer on June 22, 1939, in Winfred. They farmed west of Estelline until the fall of 1979. when they moved into town. Fritz died on Nov. 3, 1984, and she continued to make Estelline her home.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline, the Extension Club and the Study Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by two daughters, Roxanna Diede of Scotland and Pamela (Richard) Vohlken of Watertown; a son, Gerald (Beatrice) Heismeyer of Plankinton; eight grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; a sister, Sharon (Alfred) Anderson of Springfield, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Wilma Beck of Madison and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a granddaughter, a sister and three brothers.
