Whynema Caroline (Bergman) Ehlers, 96, died Sunday Feb. 17, 2013, at Riverview Health Services, in Flandreau.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Flandreau. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau.
Whynema was born Aug. 6, 1916, in Verdi, Minn., to George and Julie (Meyer) Bergman. She attended school in Lincoln County, Minn. She married Ivan H. Ehlers on Dec. 11, 1934, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Flandreau. They farmed until 1942 when they moved to Flandreau. Her husband died Sept. 28, 1968. Whynema was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She worked at various jobs including: six years at the school lunchroom and 10 years at the Flandreau hospital. Whynema enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, playing cards, and having coffee with her friends.
She is survived by two children, Verde Kuonen of Philadelphia and Roger (Corrine) Ehlers of Flandreau, nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and three brothers.
