• Honor recognizes challenge of creating new museum space
BROOKINGS – The Children’s Museum of South Dakota is being recognized at the national level as an exceptional new museum space.
CMSD has been awarded the Buildy Award 2013, presented by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums to honor recent outstanding museum construction projects.
Suzanne Hegg, executive director of CMSD, accepted the national award at a luncheon held at the Building Museums Symposium in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday. Criteria for the award included: an inclusive planning process, the use of sustainable construction practices, advancing mission through the architecture of the building, impact of the project, and awards previously won.
