YANKTON – The Bobcats broke a 24-all tie midway through the fourth quarter with a 6-0 run on the way to a 35-28 Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ basketball win over the Gazelles on Tuesday at the Summit Activities Center in Yankton.
Yankton got within 31-27 on a Kelsey Fitzgerald 3-point play with 5:02 remaining but couldn’t get closer.
Despite shooting 22 second-half free throws Yankton couldn’t connect as the ‘Cats held a 15-8 advantage from the foul stripe, which proved to be the winning margin as Brookings improved to 3-15 on the season and the Gazelles dropped to 4-12.
