Ruth E. Nebben, 88, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Colman. Burial is in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dell Rapids. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Colman.
Ruth was born Aug. 30, 1924, at Chester to Ed and Mary (Birnbaum) Michel. She attended Moody County country schools and graduated from Trent High School in 1942. Ruth married Palmer Nebben on Sept. 23, 1944, at Huntimer Catholic Church near Colton. She worked for Civil Service while Palmer was in the service in New Mexico.
They returned to Colman and Ruth was a homemaker and then a bookkeeper for many years at the Colman Elevator. They moved into Colman in 2001. Ruth was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband Palmer of Colman, a daughter Marlene (Daryl) Wussow of Sioux Falls; a son, Larry (Lois) Nebben of Wentworth; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Darlene Goode of Milwaukee, Ore., and Shirley (Paul) Scholten of Sioux Falls and two sisters-in-law, Carol Michel of Harbor City, Calif., and Connie Michel of Dell Rapids.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Glenn.
