BROOKINGS – A good run to end the first quarter, coupled with a solid fourth-quarter finish, helped the fourth-ranked Bobcats overcome an early fourth-quarter lull and beat Yankton, 56-48, in Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ basketball action at Bob Jostad Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Brookings scored the final 10 points of the first quarter – turning a 7-6 deficit into a 16-7 lead after the first eight minutes.
Braxton Carlson started the run with a free throw before Zach Page scored seven straight points – including an old-fashioned three-point play when he muscled a shot past Yankton’s Ryan Olson, and then added the free throw. Tyler Nagy capped off the run with a pair of free throws.
