BROOKINGS – South Dakota State hammered Kansas City, 88-57, to post its Summit League record 28th consecutive home victory on Saturday night at Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits raced out to an 11-2 lead and never trailed while notching their seventh straight win overall. SDSU (18-6, 9-2 Summit) remained tied for first in the conference standings with North Dakota State and Western Illinois.

“I told the guys after the game how proud I was of them, because coming off the NDSU and USD games and knowing UMKC is struggling, it would have been very easy to have a letdown – and we didn’t,” said SDSU head coach Scott Nagy, whose team finished 27-of-57 (47.4 percent) from the field, including 10-of-19 from 3-point range, and 24-of-29 from the free-throw line. “… I think our guys are really showing a lot of maturity and our defense is getting better.”
