KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Megan Waytashek scored a Division I-era school-record 33 points and South Dakota State came up with a pair of defensive stops in the final seconds to hold off Kansas City, 62-61, in Summit League women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
The Jackrabbits took the lead for good – 52-51 – on Mariah Clarin’s layup with 8:13 to go. The lead fluctuated between one and five the rest of the way.
Katie Lingle made it 62-59 with a bucket in the lane with 1:10 remaining. The Kangaroos’ Kelsey Barnwell answered with a layup with 56 seconds left, cutting the deficit to a point.
