George H. Feldhus, 91, died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m., Saturday at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dempster. Burial is at Hillcrest Cemetery in Estelline. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.
Due to limited seating at the church, the family would like everyone to join them for lunch and fellowship at the Estelline American Legion following the burial service in Estelline.
George H. Feldhus, son of Gerhard and Ida (Dellingen) Feldhus, was born May 20, 1921, at Dempster. He received his education in Dempster. He married Ruth Borsvold on April 17, 1946, in Sioux Falls. They farmed near Bruce until 1952 when they moved to a farm in Laketon Township in Brookings County. During his years farming, George also partnered with a neighbor in a corn shelling business and he attacked leafy spurge with a vengeance.
He and Ruth retired in 1989 and moved into Estelline.
He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dempster, where he held many offices within the church. He enjoyed hunting, playing baseball in his younger years, was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of Estelline; two sons, Robert of Arlington, and Harlan (Sue) of Bruce; a daughter Velma (Jack) Kreul of Hayti; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
George was preceded in death by two daughters, Marsha and Wanda, a sister, Anna Thompson and a brother George in infancy.
