Rosella R. Kasperson, 84, formerly of Sinai, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Brookings Health Systems. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sinai Lutheran Church in Sinai. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.
Rosella R. Koerner was born on Sept. 6, 1928 in Elkton, the daughter of Charles and Kathryn (Clark) Koerner. She received her education in Elkton and was a graduate of Brookings High School in 1946.
She married Hjalmer J. Kasperson on Feb. 10, 1948, in Pipestone, Minn. After their marriage they farmed near Sinai until their retirement in 1991, when they moved into Brookings. Hjalmer died Aug. 1, 2004, in Brookings.
Rosella was a member of the Sinai Lutheran Church, the WELCA Circle, Harmony Committee, Library Board, Happy Hour Club and the Happy Moments Club. She enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoe, reading, crocheting, music, gardening, cooking, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to dance.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Donnelly, of Littleton, Colo., David (Barb) Kasperson, Peggy (Gale) Nelson, all of Volga and Rick (Kay) Kasperson, of Arlington; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson and a brother Robert Koerner, of Lincoln, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, Vincent, Louis, John and Raymond and two sisters, Delores and Dorothy.
