Geraldine R. Lechner Madison Dec. 9, 1925 Jan. 17, 2013

Geraldine R. Lechner, 87, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Madison.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ramsey Baptist Church in rural Montrose with the Rev. Al Nasman officiating. Burial is in the Ramsey Baptist Cemetery in rural Montrose. Visitation is one hour preceding the service at the church.

Geraldine Ruth Friman was born Dec. 9, 1925, near Hurley to Eldo and Gladys (Benson) Friman. She married Robert Walter Lechner on May 4, 1947, at Parker. The couple farmed in Turner, McCook and Lake Counties. Gerri was a long time member of Ramsey Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday school there for many years. She moved into Madison in 1993. Gerri thoroughly enjoyed her work experiences over the years and treasured her many fond memories of time spent with her co-workers. She resided at Golden Living Center for the last five years and was especially thankful for the time she had with Emogene Steinhauer.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Michael) Haas of Yankton, Dianne (Chuck) Willey of Gettysburg, Jeffrey (Liz) and Douglas Lechner, both of Madison and Barb (Keith) Hemmelman of Pierre; eight grandchildren; three great -grandchildren; a special nephew, David Gossel of Kimball; eight sisters, Marion Straw of Mitchell, Edith (Donald) Moe of Lecher, Doris Cordell of Huron, Audrey (George) Sample of Flandreau, Margaret Adel of Lake Andes, Eleanor Bjerkaas of Irene, Genette Rusk and Carolyn McMahon, both of Flandreau; a brother-in-law, Herbert Gossel of Kimball; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Friman of Lennox, Dorothy Friman of Tripp and Phyllis Graack of Parker; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1984; three sisters, Dorothy Hanson, Frances Gassel and Vivian Friman; and three brothers, Gene, Jim and Richard Friman.

Memorials may be directed to Ramsey Baptist Church.
