Nature Center frame goes up

The Dakota Nature Park is continuing to take shape this winter, and the latest project has been the erection of the Douglas fir framework for the Nature Center. The timber-frame structure is being assembled by a crew of specialists from Wyoming, and they should finish their work by this weekend. BROOKINGS – There’s knee-deep snow on the ground and temperatures rarely climb above freezing, but the Dakota Nature Park is bustling with activity these days, Peter Colson told the Brookings City Council Tuesday.

Even a fresh snowfall and chilly winds haven’t kept builders from putting up the Douglas fir timbers that create the framework for the Nature Center in the southwest corner of the new park.
