Future 16th Ave. closure prompts township concerns

• Commission, city manager agree to hold local transportation summit

BROOKINGS – A Brookings Township representative is worried the city’s airport expansion will leave his township with some costly side effects.

He asked Brookings County commissioners this week to not agree to sign an annexation request for some of the airport land until those cost concerns are addressed.

After 45 minutes of discussion, commissioners approved the annexation but asked the city to “be a good neighbor” and work with the township on its concerns.
