BROOKINGS – It looked as if the old Eastern South Dakota Conference was back in the boys’ basketball matchup between the Bobcats and Arrows on Saturday at Bob Jostad Gymnasium.

After the two teams managed to combine for just 39 first-half points, Watertown used a 23-point third quarter to build a 42-27 lead, and then held on for a 55-46 win.

“Poise; and I thought the Jutting kid banking in the 3-pointer was kind of a backbreaker – you’re doing a great job on the defensive end and he throws it up there and it happens to go in – sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good and I felt that was the case there,” said Brookings head coach Travis Engebretson about his team’s third-quarter collapse. “The word that we had been talking a lot about – and especially when you play Watertown – you have to play with poise. As physical as they are, you just have to play with poise.”
