ABERDEEN – Aberdeen Central had a second chance at Brookings, but a second-half shutdown prevented any ideas of an upset Friday night.
After losing to Brookings on a last-second shot to start the season, the Golden Eagles battled the third-rated Class AA team to even terms for one half before succumbing 55-38 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ basketball game at Golden Eagles Arena.
Central managed just two baskets the final 16 minutes as the visitors won going away.
“I think a lot of it was us rushing shots,” said Central coach Brent Norberg. “We had some really good looks at shots and missed them.”
