VOLGA – Tayton Vincent dropped in 28 points and Sioux Valley won its third game in as many days, beating McCook Central/Montrose 55-40 for the Big East Conference boys’ basketball tournament title on Saturday night.
The Cossacks got off to another solid start, outscoring the Fighting Cougars 11-5 in the opening quarter. Vincent connected from 3-point range twice, and Tyler Tofte added a bucket in the paint and a trey.
Sioux Valley later stretched the lead to 20-6 with a 6-0 run – Tofte, Jake Larson and Vincent each had a bucket – with 4:49 remaining in the second quarter.
