BROOKINGS – “We are in the heyday of our pheasant hunting,” Spence Hawley told a packed meeting of the Brookings Wildlife (BWF) Federation Friday.
“I don’t see it ever getting better than it is right now.”
But what sounded like terrific news for sportsmen was actually a state legislator’s warning that while bird numbers are excellent today, it’ll all be downhill from this point. And bird hunting opportunities and outcomes will probably continue to decline for the next decade and beyond.
