Ivan A. Olson, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at his farm home near Nunda under the care of Madison Hospice.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda with the Rev. Paul Johansen officiating.
Burial is in Prairie Queen Cemetery in Nunda, with military honors by Nunda American Legion. Visitation will begin at noon today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Ellsworth Funeral Home. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ivan Albert Olson was born Jan. 20, 1937, on the family farm near Nunda, to Albert and Alvina (Nelson) Olson. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956 and served in Germany and France.
Ivan married Mary Ann Kommes on May 30, 1970, at Grace Lutheran Church, Nunda.
He enjoyed farming and feeding cattle on the farm where he was born.
His hobby was working on Oliver tractors, tractor pulls and going to auction sales. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda, a 50-year member of Madison Elks Club and a former active member of Prairie Village. Ivan will be greatly missed by his wife and sons, and a host of relatives.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann of Nunda; two sons, Douglas Olson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Kurt Olson of Nunda; a grandson; a sister, Joyce Hilden of Spearfish; and two brothers, Vernon (Betty) Olson of Madison and Carroll (June) Olson of Wentworth.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Olson and a brother-in-law, Floyd Hilden.
