Dena Mans Meyer, 90, died early Christmas morning at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.
Funeral services are at the Volga Christian Reformed Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with viewing prior to the service. Visitation will be at the Eidsness Funeral Chapel in Volga on Friday, 5-8 p.m.
On Aug. 31, 1922, Dena was born to Peter and Johanna (Lengkeek) Mans. She was a lifelong member of the Volga CRC. On Feb. 9, 1945, she married William (Bill) Meyer in Volga.
Active in her church and community, Dena delivered Meals on Wheels as well as helped the elderly. She was an “Avon Lady” for over 35 years, but mostly, she was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed baking, especially for others.
She will be remembered for her loving, giving nature, her cinnamon rolls, fried chicken and rhubarb dessert.
She is survived by her children: Larry (Donna) Meyer of Sheboygan, Wis., Gladie (Douglas) Peuler of Wyoming, Mich., Randall (Patty) Meyer of Faribault, Minn., Pearl Meyer (husband Amador Suarez Balbauna) of Miami, Fla., Tamara (Richard) Lough of Eagan, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Arie, Clarence (Casey), Louis and Peter Mans; sisters, Margaret De Groot, June Gorter and Johanna Brink; and sisters-in-law Margaret, Genevieve, Jo and Laura Mans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her son, Rodney; in-laws, Otto and Susie Meyer; sister Elizabeth; brothers Henry, Otto and Bob; and brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dena’s name to Volga CRC, Volga Christian School or whatever is preferred.
