BROOKINGS – The Christmas spirit was alive and well in Brookings this holiday season.
Only a week before Christmas, organizers for the Salvation Army’s red kettle campaign were worried about meeting their goal. With just a few days before the local effort was to conclude, the bell-ringers had collected $17,500 – but they were nearly $8,000 short of their $25,000 target.
By Christmas Eve, they had met that goal, and then some.
