BROOKINGS – Common Core State Standards. A new accountability model. The rigorous Smarter Balanced assessment. Educator effectiveness gauged by The Danielson Group’s Framework for Teaching. A new longitudinal data system.
These are some of the major changes that have hit South Dakota school districts over the past few years, and some of them are just getting started.
As Brookings School District Superintendent Roger DeGroot reviewed a timeline for these changes with school board members Monday, he said it’s time for Brookings to pull back from pilot studies that will help the state and focus rather on its own administrators and teachers.
