Jacks beat Bakersfield, 69-63, in Wolters’ return

BROOKINGS – The Jacks stepped up their defense to pull out a nonconference win at Frost Arena on a blustery Sunday afternoon.

South Dakota State held Cal State Bakersfield to 24 second-half points to turn a 39-38 halftime deficit into a 69-63 win as the Jackrabbits improved to 8-3 on the season.

“I thought Baskersfield played very well,” said SDSU head coach Scott Nagy. “One of the things that we’re seeing – and teams are seeing us on film – is that the way to play with us and stay with us and to slow us down offensively, is on the offensive end to grind out possessions."
