AUSTIN, Minn. – The Central Division leading Bruins beat the Brookings Blizzard for the fifth time in as many tries this season, but Saturday night’s North American Hockey League matchup came down to a shootout.
The Bruins posted a 2-1 advantage in the shootout to secure a 3-2 victory.
Brookings scored twice late in regulation to force overtime. Justin Moody, on assists from Aidan Cavalinni and Conor Andrle, pulled the Blizzard within 2-1 with a goal with 2:01 remaining. Evan Hesse had the equalizer with just two seconds left, as the Blizzard were on the power play and also pulled their goalie for a six-on-four advantage. Thomas Williams and Cavalinni assisted on the goal.
