BROOKINGS – Sometimes the only statistic that matters is the final score.

That was the case for the South Dakota State women on Tuesday night at Frost Arena as the Jackrabbits’ Megan Waytashek converted a lob pass from Hannah Strop with 9.7 seconds remaining to beat Eastern Michigan, 66-65.

“I’m really proud of that win – as difficult as that game was for us, it would have been easy to just wilt,” said SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston. “And we didn’t wilt; we made a couple of really big plays – Ashley had a really big shot there late to go from four to one; we were fortunate, (Eastern Michigan) had a good free-throw shooter miss a couple of free throws to keep it at a one-point game and I thought Hannah and Megan really executed well there in the last couple of seconds."
