• ‘Red Kettle’ volunteers still needed

BROOKINGS – Shoppers going into Walmart or Hy-Vee on weekends between now and Christmas Day may be pleasantly surprised to see friends and neighbors wearing red aprons and ringing bells beside those familiar red kettles.

It's that time of year, when The Salvation Army continues its mission of meeting the needs of people in the Brookings community.

And according to local Salvation Army officials, Brookings area residents are stepping up to the challenge – either by giving money or giving their time.
