Janet Mae McMahon, 68, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Flandreau. Burial is in Union Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Janet was born Sept. 2, 1944 in Lincoln, Neb., to Dale and Dorothy (Johnson) Fuhs. She grew up in Flandreau and then moved with her family to California, where she graduated from Watsonville High School.
She married Larry Delaney and they had four boys. Janet moved back to Flandreau in 1974 and raised her four children. She worked for 25 years at Farmer’s State Bank and four years at Royal River Hotel. On July 30, 1993 Janet married Wayne “Buddy” McMahon. She was comforted by his faithful and loving commitment. Buddy died July 10, 2011.
Janet loved her four boys, their wives and treasured her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, movies, music, especially Elvis and Marty Robbins, cooking, watching her boys play sports, crocheting and Sudoku. Janet was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for 35 years and belonged to Lutherans for Life.
She is survived by her four sons, Dale (Susan) Delaney, Corpus Christi, Texas, Scott Delaney of Casper, Wyo., Shawn (Chris) Delaney of Casper, Wyo., and Rob (Athena) Delaney of Franktown, Colo.; a step-daughter, Julie (Brad) Jones of Milford, Iowa; six grandchildren and a sister, Peggy (Darwin) Ernst of Corralitos, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne “Buddy” McMahon; her parents and her identical twin sister, Janice.
