If you know, keep your trap shut ...

Don't ask; don't tell. If you've already seen "The Mousetrap," by Agatha Christie, which has been running continously in London's West End theater district since 1952 and staged around the world, keep the plot and the action to yourself. Let first-time viewers enjoy the suspense and what-happens-next atmosphere necessary to the enjoyment of this play.

Bringing the Brits to Brookings is a cast of Brookings Community Theatre actors who have proven their mettle in earlier BCT productions: Mollie Ralston (Christina Castillo), proprietor of Monkswell Manor, a sort of bed-and-breakfast hotel; Giles Ralson (Joshua Pierce), who runs the manor with his wife; Christopher Wren (Christopher Hunt), a strange young man; Mrs. Boyle (Angie Roden), a rather irritating old woman who finds just about everything around her to be disagreeable; Major Metcalf (Terri Veen), a former member of the Royal Air Force (This is usually a man's role; but no male actor auditioned); Miss Casswell (Shannon Wade), a strange woman who had a trying childhood; Mr. Paravicini (John Holliman), a mystery man with a foreign accent; and Detective Sergeant Trotter (Nick Castillo).

The director is Elizabeth Gabriella, who has acted in several past BCT productions. Enough said; the less you know, the better. Show up, enjoy and keep it to yourself. Show times at the Fishback Studio Theatre in the Performing Arts Center are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at Brookings Book Company, 321 Main Ave., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Friday, Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and one hour before each show. $10 for seniors, students and children; $12 for adults.
