• Brookings Swim Club members post 50 state-qualfying times at Pierre Invitational last weekend
MINNEAPOLIS – Brookings Swim Club member Cassie Hendricks placed seventh in the 200-yard backstroke in 2 minutes, 4.53 seconds, and 11th in the 100-yard backstroke in 57.71 seconds at the USA Swimming Minneapolis Grand Prix over the weekend.
Both of her swims are ‘AAA’ National Age Group Motivational times and are new BSC team records.
Hendricks entered Sunday’s 200 backstroke with the 11th-best seed time of 2:05.59. She finished seventh in the prelims with a 2:04.95 clocking. On Saturday, she was seeded 20th in the 100 with a time of 59.54 before posting a time of 58.21 in the preliminaries, good enough for eighth place.
Missy Franklin, who won four gold medals and a bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, won all five of the individual events she entered at the event. She was victorious in the 200 backstroke in 1:50.1 and the 100 backstroke in 50.97.
