Blizzard skate past Minot, 3-1

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Blizzard topped off their weekend with a 3-1 win over Minot on Saturday at Larson Ice Center.

That win moved the Blizzard into a first-place tie in the Central Division with 26 points on the strength of 13 wins and four losses. Austin also has 26 points with 12 wins, three losses and two overtime losses. The teams play twice this weekend in Austin.

“It’s a big deal for us,” said Brookings head coach Cory Laylin of the Blizzard moving into the first-place tie. “We had a lot of penalties tonight, but sometimes things don’t go your way."
