BROOKINGS – The $26,098 that Brookings County Sheriff’s Office and Brookings Police Department are getting through a state Homeland Security grant will be just a step toward the total cost of new technology they hope to purchase.
Todd Struwe, director of Brookings County Emergency Management, and Dave Erickson, assistant chief of police, spoke with the Brookings County Commission Thursday about the plan. Erickson is organizing the effort to raise money for this software, which would come from Law Enforcement Technology Group (LETG) of Minnesota.
“What Sheriff (Marty) Stanwick and Chief (Jeff) Miller are hoping to accomplish with this is to update our records management system, our computer-aided dispatch system and the jail records system, which all tie together. It’s a complete package,” Erickson said.
