• Charles Woodard to speak at Nov. 15 fundraising supper

BROOKINGS – The ninth annual Empty Bowls soup supper benefiting Heifer International is drawing near, organizers are reminding Brookings area residents.

The event, which raises funds to purchase livestock for persons living in poverty, here in the United States and around the world, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Brookings United Church of Christ.

Charles Woodard, distinguished professor of English at SDSU and founder of the Oak Lake Writers Group, will be keynote speaker for the event.
