• Former math teacher, principal enjoying the role of assistant
BROOKINGS – After working nine years as a math teacher, then 16 years as a principal, Tim Steffensen has taken a middle role this year. He’s the new assistant principal of Mickelson Middle School, serving with Principal Melinda Jensen.
Steffensen is an Arlington native; he graduated from Arlington High School in 1980. He earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, with middle school endorsements, then a master’s in K-8 school administration, both from Northern State University. In 1992, he was hired by Deuel School District in Clear Lake as elementary principal, then became elementary and middle school principal.
