• GOP chair wants to put leadership experience to work for community
BROOKINGS – Scroll through the photos on Jim Gilkerson’s Facebook page and you’ll see him posed with homecoming queens in tiaras, chowing down under a tent at a community supper, wearing a silly, shamrock-green hat and laughing with a group of 4-H’ers.
The man is shameless: There’s even a picture of a cute little blond cowgirl perched atop her horse, and the sign just below the saddle reads, “Vote for my Grandpa, Jim Gilkerson.”
As much as anything else he’s said or done during this campaign, the pictures tell the story: Jim Gilkerson cares about small towns and the people who live in them. And he wants to do right by them in the state Legislature.
