School starts earlier next fall in Brookings

• First semester of 2013-14 calendar will end before Christmas

BROOKINGS – School will start earlier and end sooner next year, the Brookings School Board decided Monday. The change will put Brookings more in line with other schools throughout the state.

“Since I’ve been here, we’ve had an early start, and then we went to two years where we had a relatively late start. Actually, the latest start of anybody in the state last year, I believe, on the 29th,” said Superintendent Roger DeGroot.
