HOWARD – Arlington junior Janae Sampson ran to an individual title and the Cardinal boys put together a third-place finish to earn a state meet berth, as well, at Wednesday’s Region 2B Cross-Country Meet at Howard.

Sampson won the girls’ 4,000-meter event in 15 minutes, 59 seconds as Canistota won the team title with 13 points. Mitchell Christian was second with 15, followed by Chester Area with 39 as the top three teams and top 20 individuals qualified for next week’s Class B State Cross-Country Meet in Huron.
