BROOKINGS – Most citizens wouldn’t know a conditional use permit from a parade permit, but that doesn’t mean it’s not important.
The topic – and a change to the way conditional use permits are issued in Brookings – became the No. 1 item for discussion at city council this week.
An attempt by city staffers to streamline the process and cut weeks off the issuance of the permits met with resistance Tuesday as both councilors and audience members questioned whether the changes might do more harm than good.
