Jeff Jacob Larson, 35, died Monday Oct. 1, 2012.
Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Brookings. Burial is at the Trinity Cemetery in Volga. Visitation is from 5 – 8 p.m Thursday at the church. Eidsness Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Jeff was born in Brookings on Feb. 2, 1977, to Jim and Peggy (Minor) Larson. He attended school grades K-12 in Brookings. He graduated from Brookings High School in 1995.
While in high school he was active in many school plays and football. Jeff had many, many friends in high school. After high school, Jeff was employed at Daktronics and worked there for nine years. Jeff was currently working on his computer science degree from South Dakota State University.
Jeff was an active member of the Minnesota National Guard located in New Ulm, Minn., since 2002. Jeff served three tours of duty overseas and in 2011 he achieved the rank of staff sergeant.
Jeff married Misty Carol Molengraaf on Sept. 29, 2007. He loved his family very dearly. Jeff enjoyed entertaining his three children and nieces and nephews with many games, goofy tricks, and tons of laughter.
Jeff enjoyed watching football, playing fantasy football, attending his children’s many activities, watching movies, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Jeff lived his life to the fullest and always put others first. He had a heart of gold that shined through his kind words, helping hands and generosity.
Jeff was the most amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Misty; three children, Mackenzie, 13, Braydon, 6, and Avery, 3; his parents, Jim and Peggy Larson of Brookings; a brother, Jay (Nikki) Larson of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Jennifer (Kevin) Moravetz of White and Janet (Jesse) Heather of Sioux Falls; in-laws, Andy and Henrietta Molengraaf of Volga; a sister-in-law, Bev (Cal) Cook of Brookings; five brothers-in-law; Steve (Bonnie) of Watertown, Ron (Sandy) of Clear Lake; Terry (Sallie) of Volga, Dennis (Heather) of Watertown and Curt (Laura) of Kranzburg; maternal grandfather, Richard Minor; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Jane Larson; maternal grandmother Jean Minor; an aunt Janice Larkin and a nephew Benjamin Molengraaf .
