BROOKINGS – Street resurfacing work on Medary Avenue has been progressing this week, city officials said today.
Bowes Construction has been performing the milling operation throughout the week, and the Brookings contractor anticipates starting the asphalt overlay today (Friday).
The asphalt paving work, between Sixth Street and the railroad tracks north of Orchard Drive, may cause congestion. Drivers are encouraged to drive slowly through the area and to follow the traffic control signs and flaggers. Drivers may also want to consider alternate routes during the project.
The crews are also completing intersection curb ramps along Medary Avenue. Other work will include digout repair on Medary at various locations between Eighth Street South and 15th Street South.
The asphalt paving will continue south of the railroad tracks after the curb and gutter work and digouts are complete in the first section.
City staff encourage residents to check the City of Brookings website for updates on this project and other city projects using the following link: www.cityofbrookings.org/index.aspx?NID=221
