Hillcrest goes to the dogs

Every dog has its day, goes the old saying. In the shallow-depth pool at the Hillcrest Aquatic Center on Sunday evening, about 120 canines had their day in the inaugural Soggy Doggy Day. The outing was sponsored by Brookings Parks and Rec; a $5 per-dog donation went to the Brookings Regional Humane Society.



Seen here taking a break so as not to end up a water-logged dog, a Corgi gets out of the water while other canines continue to wade in the background.



/ The soggy doggies came in all sizes and shapes, from a Chihuahua to a mastiff, Wellington (a female), enjoying a watery stroll with owner Dr. Rose Davidson, a Brookings veterinarian.
