Openings remain for Shooting Clays

• Event includes raffle, free health screenings



BROOKINGS – Only 22 of 100 limited spots remain for hunting and firearm enthusiasts to participate in the Brookings Health System Foundation’s third annual Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser, Aug. 23 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Medary Creek Hunt Club, rural Aurora. The event is presented by First Bank & Trust.

Interested individuals are encouraged to register soon as openings will not be guaranteed the day of the event. Registration fees are $50 per adult or $200 per four-person team. Registration fee includes a meal and ammunition. Shooters will be grouped in teams of four at the event. $100 Scheels gift cards will go to the top youth and adult individual shooters; a $50 Scheels gift card will be awarded to each member of the top team.

Proceeds from the 2012 event will help fund needed equipment for the new skilled nursing facility’s therapy gym, currently under construction.



Scooter raffle

Individuals who do not shoot but would still like to contribute may purchase raffle tickets for a pair of VIP 49cc gas scooters. Raffle tickets cost $20 each or five tickets for $75; only 500 tickets will be sold and ticket holders need not be present to win. Tickets are available at the hospital front desk and from Foundation committee members.



Health screenings free

A silent auction featuring a quartzite garden bench from LG Everist, a one-day guided fishing trip for two with Mike Tietjen of Wild Dakota Television, and a hunting gear package from Kjergaard Sports of Lake Benton, Minn., will also be held at the event.

The event will also include free health screenings from Brookings Health System, including blood pressure, step test, grip test, and a coupon for a discounted cholesterol check at Brookings Health System’s laboratory. Dog breeder Rod Brandenburger will provide free hunting dog demonstrations, including obedience, bird/game pointing, tracking and retriever training. There will also be free hunting information provided by Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Wild Turkey Foundation and Brookings Wildlife Federation.
