Brookings first baseman Bryce McMacken puts the tag on Watertown runner Nate Boes on a pickoff attempt during the Bullets 16’s 6-3, rain-shortened loss to the Red Sox during VFW baseball action Friday in Watertown. The Red Sox raced to a 6-1 lead after two innings and held on just long enough before the rain came and forced play to stop. Brookings scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 6-3 and added five more runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead. Brookings had two runners on base and two outs in the top of the sixth inning when play was stopped because of the rain. With the Red Sox leading after the previous final inning, Watertown was granted the victory.
