StoneyBrook to break ground on new addition

BROOKINGS – Stoney-Brook Suites Assisted Living of Brookings will break ground for a new 13,000-square-foot addition this week.

The gathering, open to the public, will start at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5.

With a completion date of early 2013, the $1.3 million addition includes 10 new residential rooms, an audio-visual theater room, coffee shop and a family gathering area. Enclosed courtyards and a serenity garden will be added to the exterior of the building.

StoneyBrook is currently about 27,000 square feet with 38 residential units.

President Bruce Burckhardt said the new amenities will enhance residents’ stay at StoneyBrook, increasing their quality of life there.

StoneyBrook Suites Assisted Living, with other facilities located in Huron, Watertown, Sioux Falls and Dakota Dunes, provides a health and wellness approach to assisted living.

The Brookings facility is located at 1906 12th St. S. Peggy Vostad serves as its administrator and can be reached at 692-1013.
