Lola B. Duff - Brookings June 12, 1926 - June 9, 2012

Lola B. Duff, 85, died Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Brookings Health System, in Brookings.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Brookings. Visitation is Thursday at First United Methodist Church from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Lola M. Broadbent was born June 12, 1926, in Bushnell, the daughter of Charles and Augusta (Turnquist) Broadbent.

She attended school in Bushnell and was a graduate of Brookings High School in 1944.

At the age of 16, she started working for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She married Dean Duff on March 30, 1949, in White. After their marriage, they farmed in Brookings County. She continued her employment with Northwestern Bell until 1951. Dean and Lola moved into Brookings in 2000. Dean died on April 13, 2006. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookings, the Emergency Council for Services Food Pantry and the Salvation Army Board.

She enjoyed reading, volunteering, cooking and baking and especially spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Deb (Merriweather Eidsness) Duff of Brookings. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Ray and Gerald. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed toward the Brookings Food Pantry or the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
