Donald G. Pederson Sioux Falls Oct. 9, 1933 - June 25, 2011

Donald Gene "Donnie" Pederson, 77, formerly of Nunda, died Saturday June 25, 2011 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda with the Rev. Paul Johanssen officiating. Burial is in the Prairie Queen Cemetery rural Nunda. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Randall Funeral Home with family present to greet friends beginning at 4 p.m. Visitation will resume at noon at the church Tuesday.

Donald "Donnie" Pederson was born Oct. 9, 1933, on the family homestead near Volga. He grew up and attended Country School near Volga and was baptized and Confirmed at the Oslo Lutheran Church south of Volga.

On Oct. 24 1954, he married Jean Strand at the Grace Lutheran Church at Nunda. They then settled in the Nunda area, where they raised their children and farmed.

Donnie also worked at the Farmers Union Co-op in Nunda and the ASCS office in Madison.

He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda where he served on the church board.

Donnie had a great sense of humor and brought a smile to his family and many friends with his jokes and stories. He enjoyed working on his Farmall tractors. The highlight of his life was truly his family, supporting his children and grandchildren in their sporting and school activities.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Sioux Falls, his mother, Olga Pederson of Brookings; his son, Jeff (Susan) Pederson of Harrisburg, his daughter, Cindy (Pat) Huntimer of Sioux Falls, his son, Tony (Sandy) Pederson of Alexandria, his son: Terry Pederson (friend Lisa) of Clear Lake, his daughter, Lynn (Scott) Olson of Volga, his daughter Robin (Todd) Johnson of Colman, a sister, Marlys (Don) Scherschligt of Wessington Springs, 17 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Henry Pederson and his brother, Milton Pederson.
