Ella Bates, 2, of Brookings encounters a troublesome windmill as she tries out her putting skills at Putt Putt Palooza, a minigolf extravaganza held Monday and Tuesday at the Volstorff Ballroom in SDSU's Student Union. All of the proceeds from the event went to the Children's Miracle Network at Sanford Children's Hospital. According to Eric Haiar, social awareness coordinator for the University Program Council and an adviser on the SDSU student CMN board, the golfing event raised more than $950. Golfer Ella is the daughter of Emily and Jim Bates.
